Gastricsleeve4me 186 Posted June 3, 2012 Today I am four days out and I feel the same. How long until I feel better? I'm sure everyone is different, but day 4 and 5 out were my worst. But day 7-8 I was back in the light

karenb4729 309 Posted June 3, 2012 I guess I should prepare for the meltdowns huh. I'm having surgery on Monday. Since I already went through menopause some years ago I wonder if it will be different for me as far as the hormones go. I'm sure when you are tired, don't have enough Protein and get dehydrated it's easy to hit the low moods - heck, that happens to me now! 1 MinaT reacted to this
jme53071 18 Posted June 3, 2012 Oh honey this is SO normal you have no idea. Your body has gone through trauma. Your hormones are releasing St a rapid rate. Your body is starving right now. You're coming out of anestesia for days and days afterward and that takes it's toll. You are learning a whole different lifestyle....and you can no longer soothe yourself with food. I promise you this is going to pass. In two weeks you'll be down probably 20 lbs and you'll feel it and be happy.....then all of a sudden your pants are gonna be loose...and your face will be thinner...an people will notice and your scars will be healing......and you'll see how GREAT this decision really was. Remember.....I said I PROMISE!!! ((((((((hUGS))))))) 1 Luwanna reacted to this
Sansa 39 Posted June 3, 2012 I've been waiting to hear from you, Luwanna! I remember that we talked about blood sugar, how is your blood sugar doing? I just keep thinking about not having to take any medications anymore and about all of the pretty clothes that I will be able to wear! What kind of things are you looking forward to? Congratulations on the 20 lbs that you have lost! How long has it taken you to lose that? Why do you feel duped? 1 Luwanna reacted to this
Luwanna 80 Posted June 3, 2012 My sugar is good. No meds since I started pre-op diet. I do look forward to the future, but right now sux! The dooped part is that nobody every really talks about the shitty parts of this surgery. I know I would have already fallen off the wagon if I had a choice. I think that is why I chose the sleeve. Another yucky part is what I CAN have. I HATE the Protein Drinks. They weren't bad at first, but they make me sick now....like almost puke. I WILL puke if I eat broth. I have zero options. I am going to call my nutritionist Monday, if I don't drive down and sit in her office. Something has to give. I have a yucky taste in my mouth 24/7, and my breath could kill! I need something mushy; it would be better than these nasty azz Protein drinks! Thanks for all the support guys. You have NO IDEA how much I need it right now! Sansa 39 Posted June 3, 2012 That's really encouraging that you don't have to take any meds! That right there is reason enough for me to have the surgery. How is your energy levels now that you don't take medicine and are on the liquid diet? are you able to have yogurt yet? or maybe pureed oatmeal? I suspect that the dry mouth and bad breath are due to ketosis which is a good sign that you are burning off a lot of weight. I experienced ketosis on the Atkins diet quite a bit and found that gargling moisturizing mouth wash helped.
