Say!?!

Since this is Yoda's Yammerings, and I am MR. Yoda, are these my yammerings too?

Or maybe I sould make another jedi journal, but call it MASTER JJ since That would me aptly discribe me...? I wonder...

But on the WWRY (we will rock you) thread, I have been a Queen fan since about 1975, that about when I was old enough to know I liked music. And even got to see the actual band play in Toronto in the late 80's  (I think, dates are not my strong point) and It was amazing! If the theater show is anything like the real deal, It may just be a little slice of heaven right here on earth. To say I'm looking forward to it is a very, very big understatement!

Yoda suggested we go,:clap2: and the hotel!:whoo: It is no wonder I love her to bits!!!

Oh well... Off to the movies... :pop2:

Yes Loriely, the men are WAAAAAY too spoiled!!!!! (tho I must admit I am more spoiled than Mr Yoda, fer sure!!).

We saw "Reign on Me"....it was okay...lil' slow. Last wknd we saw "SHOOTER" with my baby Mark Whalberg!!!!! mmm mmmm goooood!! Oh, the movie was excellent too!!! (seriously, has been a long time since I was on the edge of my seat for an entire movie!).

Speaking of concerts...I've seen too many to even count...but I remember the very first one I ever saw (no parents)...I was 13 and it was The Village People!!! LMAO!!!!!

Yoda,

I saw the Village People too. My first concert was DAN HILL - I bet that dates me! I won a back stage pass and thought I had died and gone to heaven.

Yoda are you buying a new home? How exciting. I am too.

What is up with your builder

Bought it and moved into it 18 months ago. Had problems with our floor (specifically the kitchen floor) from DAY 1...we told them this as it was being built...but they systematically ignored our concerns.

So, now...18 mos later...we just had our Tarion (Ontario home builder warranty) one year conciliation inspection (for all the things that are "wrong" and need fixin') (this was 2 weeks ago)...and now the builder guys are here trying to rip up the entire kitchen floor (& subfloor) and put in new (the proper ones this time!!)joists underneath the kitchen floor (ie. from the basement).

The were just supposed to do joists today but showed up first thing this morning wanting to rip up the floor...and were mad cause our kitchen hadn't been emptied out.

I could go on and on about this fiasco but I can feel my heart rate speeding up....suffice to say that I'm sooooooo not a happy camper and I don't like having all these strange guys around doing bad things to our house! (it's also our first house...so all one big learning curve for us).

It is especially frustrating because if they HAD OF LISTENED TO US from the beginning....we wouldn't be where we are now...and it would save the Builder a WHOLE lotta mooooola!!!!

grrrrr grrrrr

:tired :tired :tired :tired

Oh man that is rough. That is so frustrating. Looking on the brighter side of things at least they are fixing things. I have had friends with issues go through the builder and Tarion and still have to get lawyers involved to get things accomplished.

Hope they fix everything to your satisfaction and to the way it should have been.

Thanks Dame J....yeah, here's hopin'!!!

Yup, I know it could be way worse.....I just wish the craftsmen doing it (well, those who did it) were more professional and took some pride in their work...ya know? Instead of just slappin' thing together. I swear, I think they just gave a group of monkeys a tool box and said, "go at it boys".

:rolleyes :phanvan

That is how they do it here in Calgary. Hope all goes well for you. We built our home 3 years ago, and I am still not in a hurry to do that again.

You have to become an a$$hole just to get anything done with these people.

EXACTLY!!!! And, I tell ya...both Mr Yoda and are waaaaaay too freakin' nice to deal with these people for EXACTLY that reason. Neither of us have that a$$hole gene. Sometimes I wish one of us had SOME of it so we can "put our foot down" but it's hard to pretend ya have it when ya don't...(& very very very stressful!). But, that is why I love Mr Yoda so much....so I can't get on his case for NOT demonstrating a$$holiness!! LOL

The worker dudes are gone for now but they will be back again tomorrow bright and early.

UGH.

OMG Yoda I so know what you're going through. We moved into our new home on Jan 29th and we still have things that are not done, like some of the detailing on the outside of our house, the cupboards throughout the whole house and some little deficiencies that were supposed to be done before we moved in. I am so frustrated because I keep calling the builder, like once a week and they keep saying that the company responsible should be phoning me to come out and do it but nobody phones! Finally I contacted the superviser for the area and even he doesn't return my calls! I cannot believe this. I paid for this house in full and it should have been finished before I took possession. Now that I am moved in everybody seem s to be ignoring us. I seriously am thinkng about phoning a lawyer but I don't know if they will be able to do anything. It is soooooo incredibly frustrating.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
