A nice meal I had for supper was:

1/2 cup Blender chicken (done dry to keep it's chickeny appearence)

1/4 Cup Mashed (pureed) Potatoes

1/4 cup-ish Mushroom Soup

Pile chicken on plate to simulate chix Breast

Spread mashed Pots to cover about same area as Chicken, making top flat

Cover both with mushroom Soup (Like gravy) to moisten chicken and potatoes adding lots of Yummy flavour!

Enjoy

1/4 cup Blender Chicken (done dry to keep it's chickeny appearence)

3 shakes Chilli powder or Tex-Mex Seasoning

Hi,

I think I was too full - I couldn't eat very much except for liquids and soft foods. It could have been because I was sick but I don't think so. It feels pretty good now and I can't eat alot but it's just right - I'm still losing - more slowly but I'm enjoying healthy choices.

pureed foods are going well.

BIG test tonight as I have steak available on the menu and it has been a looooong time since I had one of those... I could put it through the F.P. but mushy steak... I think not!!!

Anyway, only about 10 day until people food again :clap2: !!!

Sadly for me, steak is one of the things that I am not able to eat yet. I bought some beutiful filet a while back and had my first serious sticking episode. After a few hours i was able to PB the offending nugget up. It was pretty sick. There was a peice of gristle that had been giving me greif.

The meat was so tender and it was cooked meduim rare. Who would have thought it would have been such a problem.

Be careful.

Andrew

I haven't had steak yet but I did get a piece of pork chop stuck. What an awful feeling. It did go down eventually. Worse was a toasted bagel with tuna and mayo. I thought I chewed it really well but it got stuck. Worser feeling. That did work its way up and out. Hope that doesn't happen too often, it hurt and was scary.

Mmmmm steak. I've successfully eaten steak... it's possible! I'd like to give it another go sometime soon though. A big fat steak with peppercorn sauce.... yumma!

What are you guys doing to me!? I think every post I've made tonight has ended up with me in a food fantasy!

Mrs. Yoda told me about these NSVs, (non scale victories) and I thought that today I have had one and I should share...:horn:

About 5 years ago, I was diagnosed with Hypertension (high BP) :boom:and in a course of one month went from no pills to 2 pills in the AM and 5 pills in the PM to control it and I think it is controled quite well...

ONE week after joining the Banded side (You all might remember) my BP fell through the floor and I was dangerously close to hospital time to get it back up. :faint: That day May 10th, I stopped the pills (all of them) for fear of bottoming out and causing real damage to myself.

Today, 20 days after banding, my GP told me to throw the pills out as I NO LONGER HAVE HYPERTENSION! :whoo: I have been taken off the 7 pills I was on for 5 years that's 1826 days. and it only took 20 days since banding to get off them.

I think that qualifies as a NSV!!! :thumb:

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
