Yoda's Jedi Journals (aka Yoda's Yammerin's)

Recommended Posts

I love raw oysters, steamed mussels, all seafood and most types of fish. The Maritime is in a great location to have fresh seafood. When I met Mandi at the clinic (Cloe was getting her fill), I asked her if she had samples New Brunswick scallops yet. There is nothing better than Dig by, NB scallops, and PEI lobster.

Imagine that, I was talking about food at the WLS clinic!!! Go figure!!!

interesting... I don't know where Digby is, but if I'm ever there, I'll make sure to try their scallops!

Hey Wheezy... do you think you'd be able to do raw oysters anymore?

Yep, I'm pretty sure that they are still alive. I think that they are toxic once they've died but are still raw.

ewww... I'm glad I never had a real fresh oyster then!

Interesting, never really thought about it. Maybe if I cut it up in tiny bite sizes I may be able to. May look kinda weird, they are usually swallowed whole. I will let ya know the next time we vacation on the ocean. We (my husband and I) never eat them unless they are caught fresh.

Okay, so yet once again, the dang TOM has snuck up on me and like I've read about others on LBT, I seem to be able to (& want to!) eat a whole entire caribou.

Well, okay, mebbe not a caribou (although it is quite yummy) but almost anything else....especially if it is carby!!!

I've been fighting off the gremlins all day yesterday and today :hungry: ....and I must admit...not winning most of the battles. Why oh why does my band let it go thru during this time?! Grrrrr.

Yeah, Yeah, I'm tryin' to think positive......on a happier note.....pre-band I would have been able to eat the whole caribou, now I can only eat it's hind quarters (although that is still too much!). So I know I should count my blessings.

Case in point....I bought fudge at a craft sale on the weekend....pre-band days I would have been lucky if it lasted until I got home, let alone a day. Whereas, it is still sitting in my fridge only half gone (& this is sharing with Mr Yoda). Don't get me wrong...>I WANT IT SO BAD right now I'm willing to cut my arm off for it!!! But I'm trying sooooooo hard to ignore it.

Part of the problem is that I'm at home and not work (feeling too ill) and so all the temptations are there.

And on a more happier note.....hehe....the silver lining is that when I weighed myself on Sat (the only day I weigh) I lost 2 lbs BUT in actuality I probably lost more since I'm likely retaining and bloated.....so now I'm actually looking forward to weigh day next Sat (hmmmm, although if I continue to lose the battle with the gremlins this week it will be a moot point!).

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Okay, I feel better now.

Kinda. Sorta.

You wanna know what I did? I bought one of those packs ready to go in the over, Pillsbury cookie dough... the kind you don't even have to slice.. they're in perfect little cookie sized blobs. The most I've ever had at once was 2, and they've been in my fridge for probably a month! Probably only cause I forget about them, since I put them in the crisper. My point is... I too would have normally eaten those in an evening.... I probably would have just bought the tube, so I could have just eaten it that way. :omg: That's my confession.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
