wigenie40 12 Posted June 2, 2012 I'm a Kaiser patient in Los Angeles. Just went to the Options orientation and at the end they told us one of our "options" lol was an early consult with a surgeon, meaning if you can "convince" the surgeon at your appt, you can get in early and NOT have to take the Options class. Being a teacher, I'm reallllllly hoping I can achieve this, so I can have the surgery this summer. I'm becoming so educated by reading this site - I hope I'm successful in persuading the surgeon to take me. Anyone have any experience with this? Thx! Thickiest2Thick 38 Posted June 3, 2012 Yes...if you are going thru kaiser or a doctor that is contracted thru kaiser...they will let you know if you qualify for surgery...but they will not schedule you until u finish the option classes period...it is a requirement for surgery... I believe we were given the choice to, but if we choose to schedule the appt with the surgeon...we couldnt do the classes too.. So we would have had to start the class after the surgeons appt...I finished classes last week of April 2012..n the time flew by, n it was informative...I req to speak with a surgeon a few years ago....n was told to do classes first..then it was 24 weeks...n never did...til now.
