Really? I had to do that with the Lap-Band, it is so hard to remember to do. What happens if you don't? Does it get stuck or come. Back up?

Well from my experiences if you dont your sleeve lets you know. I just get alot of gas bubbles and discomfort in my stomach which passes eventually but everyone is different. You may forget in the beginning but you will get hip quickly trust me the feeling isnt pleasant. Sometimes it gets stuck and/or you throw up. Vomiting with the sleeve is one of the worst experiences, avoid whenever possible.

Oh my....I don't like the sound of that. Like Beanie&Rosie'sMom, one of my principal reasons for doing the revision is to avoid all the "issues" with sliming/vomiting/gagging on the first bite.

Your not going to have issues as long as you listen to your doctor. The reason i vomited was because i had nausea and took a dose of my pain med which wasnt a good idea. You have to chew your food well, its a fact when you have such a small stomach. There are issues with every surgery but as far as im concerned the good outweighs the bad.

yeah but atleast with the sleeve you are not really limited to what you can eat...unless you just dont like it anymore or it truly disagrees with your new system...

With this band I have a hard time eating anything healthy....oranges, apples, cabbage, broccolli, grapes...just cant

After nearly 4 years w/the band, I'm used to it now. You'll adjust. Just FYI some meats and veggies are just going to take a lot of work. Pork, steak and fibrous foods are a pain. I've stopped eating a lot of meat just because of that. Just can't get it chewed enough or it's nasty by the time I do.

Just a thought. Even NON-WLS people do not chew their food enough. I didn't realize how bad of an eater I was in that respect until I became conscious of how I eat. I was pretty much NOT chewing my food! Become conscious of HOW you eat as well as WHAT you eat. Slow down and enjoy the food. :) Especially now that there is a lot less of it! :P

maybe if you cut your food up smaller that will help with not having to chew so much?? Just throwing it out there, not sure if it can help, I'm getting my sleeve in 9 days!! yeee! :)

I have tried practicing before my surgery the chewing and truly it is hard. Worse for me was not drinkingwith my meal. I used to choke so much when I ate, and I realized it's because I ate too fast and didn't chew enough. Oh my favorite food is steak too.

After 13 days of shakes, I am having he weirdest craving, something I have never made and it's turkey meatballs. Weird, I know, right!

I have a question about food if anyone knows, another one of my favorite foods, do people have issues with onions?

Ive tried onions and i havent had any problems but everyone is different. Its trial and error so try it and if it doesnt work try something else.

My doc said a SMALL sip is okay if you're sort of choking or something is a smidge too dry but really, other than tha, I don't miss drinking w/eating much. It just takes getting used to a new way of doing things. That whole habit thing.

I love turkey meatballs! They have bags of frozen ones in the freezer case at the grocery store if you don't want to make them. I use those when I am not interested in homemaking a batch.

Thank you so much. Monday is my day, it will be about forever until I am to solids so we'll see how it goes. I read over the last few days that celery is hard for people and that's another of my favorites, I just want to go into this with my eyes open ;)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
