I am using Dr. Yatco at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. Had my consultations on May 17, with the doctor, the nutritionist and the psych eval. Also met the Carla the insurance coordinator. I made my appts with teo of my doctors and got my paperwork done. Carla submitted my paperwork to GHI on Friday and tentatively set a date of August 20. Now all I have to do is wait. 2 - 3 weeks. Now what do I do to past the time. I started the shake and cry when I realized that I have completed my first of many hurtles. Maybe this will be a journey I can finally get to the finish lime. I read the threads and posts

to keep me on track and focused. Thank you al!

take this time to plan, see the counselor again maybe - find your local support groups and try and go to a few meetings. Read, read, read - not just this forum! lol.

Get familiar with your terminology - what they call the procedure, the incisions, the tools, your stomach, the sutures, and such - this makes it much easier to discuss and understand what they are telling you.

Take time to prepare, and you will feel like you are getting things done. Which you will be.

This is a good time to begin to figure out what you will need in the weeks to follow, too. It gets you ahead of the game so people can make plans to be there for you, too.

You will need to budget the weeks following, in my opinion. Will you need additional lawn services? Yes, perhaps your hubby does that, but he will be helping you - early august the kids are getting back in school - not necessarily your kids, but your friends and family...who will be busy, who will not.

General suff like that - even just a to do list helps.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
