Hello And Good Morning Everyone....

Recommended Posts

Well, I started this jounary almost a year ago. Went to a doctor appt for a check up and talked with her about weight loss surgery. She referred me to the local bariatric surgery clinic at the hospital. I went to all my meetings and appointment with them and was approved for the surgery through my insurance.

On May 4th of this year at 0745 hours I went to sleep and woke up 4 hours later with my new sleeve. I was up and walking by 7 pm that night in the hospital I had a great nursing staff and docotors. I stayed in the hospital for only two days, I had no pain to speak of besides the drain but it wasn't anything really. When I left the hospital I was 318.6 lbs lost on May 6th. Since then I have lost 36.4 lbs putting my at 282.2 lbs as of this morning. My goal is to be at approx. 200-215 lbs I have a large frame and stand 6' 1" so I think that would be a good weight who know maybe I'll shoot for 190.

Good morning to you too!!! It sounds like you are doing an excellent job!! I'm happy to hear that your hospital stay went so well! You sound like when it comes to goal weight... I have a general idea but with the final number I'm just playing it by ear.

Keep up the great job! You will be at goal before you know it :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
