My Clothes Are Falling Off

Recommended Posts

O.k. I lost 45 pounds in one month and walking 2 miles every morning. Everything is great, except that I can not seem to get rid of my bigger clothes. So many times I have lost weight and put it back on, I am scared to get rid of my bigger clothes. I have started shopping for new clothes and even bought a bunch of clothes one and two sizes smaller than I am now, in hopes of getting there within two months. How did you get rid of your bigger clothes without being scared of needing them again? At what point, did you decide to empty out your closet and went shopping again?

Teach, I've been slowly letting go of my clothes, but just this past weekend, I finally went through and was ruthless about it. I had kept some of the bigger t-shirts and stuff, but they are all in my Goodwill box now. I didn't keep mine as much because I thought they'd ever fit again, Heaven forbid! But because I thought they'd make great junk t-shirts or sleep shirts. One of them fell off me over my shoulders last week while I was pressure washing the house and eliminated that thought!

I'm 9 months post-op, if that gives you any idea of how long it has taken my mind to catch up to my body. And, I'm still waiting for security to come escort me back to the plus size section every time I go clothes shopping! :)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
