Does Removing The Drain Hurt

Recommended Posts

Don't lie to me. I get it removed monday. I'm so excited to sleep on my belly.

No, but it does feel very strange. There is no way to describe the sensation, but it isn't pain.

It didn't hurt at all, but it did feel really weird. Sorta like how your tummy drops when you go down a dip in the road....a wiggly sensation inside your belly. It made me giggle, but I'm very ticklish. :D

I had mine removed yesterday. No pain but it does feel weird. It only takes 10 seconds to pull it out.

I thought it hurt. Mine was forever long. Did not enjoy it one little bit! Tramatized....this whole damn thing has me TRAMATIZED!

Mine hurt so bad I turned white and almost passed out. By far the worst part of my entire sleeve experience and maybe my entire life.

For those who experienced pain, I'm curious......what did the output in the bulb look like prior to removal? Mine was watery and red...almost like fruit punch (gross, I know). And it seems like there was about 12ml output every 12 hours or so.

Lol at Lu wanna! I felt the exact way. I think the longer it is the more uncomfortable it is. My was very long. He had to stop part way through because he couldn't fit the whole drain in his hand. The doc then said wow yours is really long. :P

Mine looked like fruit juice too. I crying just thinking of it...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
