Liquid Preop Diet Day 5

Recommended Posts

I started my 2 week liquid pre op diet on Monday, May 28 and I am on Day 5 today. I have lost almost 6 pounds since Monday! I'm loving it! I hope to loose 8 or more pounds by my surgery date of June 11 to bring me at loosing an even 50 pounds pre op since Jan of this year!

I haven't had any problems with the preop really. I am supposed to get 4 shakes in a day but only getting 3 in, 2 mixed with skim milk and 1 mixed w/ Water. I am getting in the 1000 cals and total grams of Protein of 100 grams and 100 grams of carbs so I think it will be ok if I am not getting 4 shakes in a day. I am able to eat certain veggies unlimited in amounts from a list my bariatric program gave me and then up to 6 servings of another list of things but I haven't ate 6 servings of them on any day so far and have only had one or two unlimted veggie at lunch and at dinner.

I am glad I decaffinated and decarbonated myself in March of this year along with cutting out other bad foods since I think it makes it easier to do this 2 week pre op diet.

I have been jumping on the scales every morning now seeing what I have lost in a day! I know that is bad but every morning it shows me weighing less and less so I can't help it!

Going to Good Will this weekend to try to find some cheap jeans and pants for work since all my pants are now all too big in my closet! I don't wanna pay alot for clothes right now cause I know I will be dropping more after my surgery!

Good luck to all the June Sleevers and those on your liquid diet or going to begin their liquid diets soon!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
