My surgery is 6-27. I see the surgeon, Dr Mun in South Bay 6-14. Are there any KP VSG patients that know what Kaiser demands for the 2 week pre surgery diet? Thank you. I use Worldwide Pure Protein and Unjury broth. Do they allow SF Popsicles, Jello, veggies, etc?

Dr. Mun was my surgeon on May 1st and I can tell you the exact diet he gave me

He is very precise, He likes to see that you have lost wt, preferably the 10% pre-op, at your visit he

will go by what your current wt is because my friend who has less to lose than I who also had Dr Mun the day after me did not have to do the two week Protein Shakes, he just told her to continue as she was doing and then two days before do the liquids, He will give you a hand out,

on it are his instructions, and he will verbally tell you if there are any exceptions

but the hand out says this:

Two weeks prior to surgery date he wants : Breakfast and lunch Protein shakes, and a small protein based dinner, two days prior to surgery, full liquid diet, he told me protein shakes were fine, but the day before surgery the pre-op nurse called to make sure I was on task and said no shakes, it should be Clear Liquids only and stop all liquids 12am the night before surgery, I did what he instructed and had no complications at all, hope it helps Good luck to you, let me know if you have any questions :)

Thank you sooooo much! I am faithfully doing 1200 cals now and will do whatever his orders are. I track it on My Fitness Pal. Tomorrow, I see my primary for medication adjustments for after surgery.

Best of luck to you Joyce, Dr Mun was wonderful with me and very thorough, the entire team at South Bay Kaiser was great and supportive, you will be fine, do as they ask and remember to walk as soon as your able after surgery it will help cut the gas and discomfort, but expect some, that cannot be completely avoided, you will do fine I'm sure, its the start of a whole new journey, enjoy the ride as best you can because its well worth the destination :)

I have been faithfully following the 1200 cal diet, a little behind on the exercise, getting in Water and Protein and had a visit with the primary at 1:00pm. I weighed myself in advance and gained 2 lbs. I know what I am doing because I am a nurse and specialize in diabetes. The doctor (not the surgeon) said not to worry about the numbers. He said to keep at it. I know I will lose during the 2 week liq protein portion, but my fear is he will cancel surgery. I am a one year out lapband failure and was down to 134 lbs. Now, I am 170. Pre any procedure-213 lbs and 4 ft 10 inches. I had to go up 2 sizes. This site helps me because you all know this battle. My family is supportive. My co-workers are amazed at my willpower but it just isn't working. It is like my body likes being FAT! UGH!

Hi, I'm going to have sleeve done also with the same dr @kaiser south bay... I had a question? I had lap and placed in 2007 and now having it removed(aug 7) due to complications. He said if I don't have to much scar tissue he will do the sleeve.. My question is, i had made plans to go camping that weekend aug 10-12 do u think I should be ok? I'm just going to be relaxing and sipping my protien shakes? Please let me know what u think... Thanks :)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
