Hello all,

I've battled my weight since i was eighteen, but the past five years have been the worst, resulting in severe depression. I was wondering if the eligibility requirements are universal, or if it's possible to have the banding done if you are not quite 'severely' obese. Like so many, i've tried so many things, diets, pills, etc. I'm 5'5, and 195. I should be 130. I realize that it's not as much weight as most have to lose who look to banding, however, it's ruining me. Any helpful information would be so appreciated,

thank you so much, and for such a great forum,

josie

Hello there

I've worked your BMI out as 32.5.

You don't say where you are from, whether you would be self pay or insurance (or NHS)?

I know that in the UK (apologies if you are in the USA) if you have BMI over 40 or 35 with other co-morbities you would automatically qualify for weight loss surgery under the N.I.C.E. guidelines.

BUT, if you were self pay, there may be surgeons who would operate on you with a BMI of 32.5.

We would need to know where you are etc.

Aud x

Thank you for the reply audrey! I am in the u.s, and i would be paying cash. If anyone knows of a good (quality and experience) surgeon who will do the procedure on someone with a 32.5 bmi, i would like to hear from them.

thank you again audrey!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
