just banded

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I just got banded on August 9th. I have lost 14 lbs so far. I am still drinking liquids. I am trying to be creative. I am having a hard time remembering to drink the Protein. I make cream of wheat and put a scoop in it. Watery of course. I know it is important to drink the protein. This Thursday will be two weeks on liquids. I was told at least two weeks up to three is better. What has everyone else done? When is a good time to start to excercise and what can I do and can't do????

You can walk now. I started eating regular food by 14 days. Most say that you can't. I am a rule breaker. I had a 14 day period from the shock of no food so I started eating and My period went AWAY. You should be able to tolerate. mushy stuff. mashed potaotes. etc.... I started with

Wendy's chilli and chewed it really well. However, make sure that you progress slowly.... a few bites of mushy for a few days and then add a little more. Every doctor is different. The best advice is to do what your doctor says......... Even though I did not!! Good luck. Start walking. I started with 1 minute for every pound. I am up to 40....per day.... I did not stress over the protien.

There is alot of good advice here but remember we are not doctors.... Just patients like you!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
