I called my Doctor's office this morning to check the status of my insurance claim only to find out that they had not submitted to the insurance yet after 1.5 weeks of being cleared from the NUT. They did say that they were waiting for the doctor to sign off on all of my notes and that they would give everything to the insurance coordinator after lunch to be submitted to the insurance company. I just feel like it is taking so long. I know it is just pure anxiety and excitement all balled into one but I am ready and have been for a long time now. Praying for a quick response from the insurance company for a June date!!!

I'm sorry Crichard. I felt the same way as you.

Nina and Crichard, once you know the insurance company has it, give it a week and call, it doesn't hurt.

Call that office every day until they can tell you for sure that they have submitted! You have every right to do so as a PAYING patient! Especially an insurance paying patient!

I'm in the same boat. Try to be focused and calm (that's what I keep telling myself). Definately call your insurance company after it's submitted they can give you a time frame on when to expect a decision. Lady Lisa thanks for that encouragement I will be calling first thing in the morning!

Well I got a call from the doctor's office this morning saying that my insurance was going to expire at midnight tonight and of course I flipped out and had to get Human Resources on the phone and get it all straightened out and of course now I have to wait until in the morning for them to submit to the insurance company because the expiration date has been updated in the system but we will not be able to see it until midnight. Just another bump in the road but I'm not going to let it keep me down, I'm going to look to the future and pray for a quick approval!!!

Crichard, stay positive, don't let this get you down. A positive attitude goes a long way towards success.

Looking forward to hearing when you get the date!

Spoke with CIGNA this afternoon and they stated that they have received the paperwork for my surgery and that the doctor's office stated that they would like to perform the surgery on 6/28 so it looks like I may be a June Sleever!!!! Ready to join all my friends on the loosers bench

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
