I went for my third fill today surgery was on March 30th. the surgeon asked me if I was drinking while I was eating and I said in the beginning I wasn't buy as time went by I back back to my old habits of drinking during my meals. He said my pouch was slightlyl distended and that was from drinking with eating. He said I could ruin the whole band and it would have to be removed if it continued to stretch out. Well needless to say that scared the crap out of me and no drinking until one half hour before and after meals from now on!

Ah! I thought it was just me. That has to be the worst feeling in the world. I want to wash it down but it has no where to go, resulting in me wanting to throw up! Does that mean I need another fill?

I have been having a horrible time with this since my last fill 2 weeks ago. More food gets stuck now and I can get it unstuck by drinking big gulps of Water otherwise I am in the bathroom trying to PB to get unstuck and that is really gross and painful.

Is this going to ruin my band????

Since I have had my third fill last Friday all that I can tolerate is liquids and pureed foods. I tried eating a piece of fish last night because I was very hungrey and could not stand the thought of more liquids. But forget it 5 minutes after I ate it I was in the bathroom throwing up.... I hope this situation improves. I kept saying I couldn't wait until I have restriction but this is ridiculous.:rolleyes2:

Well i didn't realize how hard it was going to be to not drink while eating. I still have to take tiny little sips. With my 2/3 of cup of food (im on my soft phase) i usually have about a medicine cup size of Water or less.

I think it is because i have really sensitive taste buds though. A lot of normal food is super spicey to me, even beef sausages, Tomato sauce, chicken schnitzel, and some yogurts.

I used to have to drink milk with all my meals before the op. but i can't do that anymore and it drives me insane not being able to drink as much water as i want to, and having to wait half an hour after the meal before i can gulp down some water to stop my mouth burning. I think this the hardest part since the operation.

I have just had my second fill, this past Friday, and haven't been able to keep anything down till last night. I got up this am thinking everything was back to normal, and it isn't. I figure, maybe, it is because the band is tighter in the morning?? I heard that in support groups. Does this get better? I'm back on Protein Drinks. I don't want to pb.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
