Oh my gosh this post reminded me of me except for I am 6 weeks post op and 42 pounds down. I just started taking B12 today because a fellow sleever told me it gave her a lot more energy. I can't stand the Protein Shakes anymore and I can't eat enough to get my Protein from food. I just have this terrible feeling that I am going to for sure lose my hair when 4 or 5 months comes around since I haven't been getting all of my protein. Suggestions anyone?

I only regained my energy at about week 6, and I've read that it's taken others as long as 3 months to do so. So while it's definitely not pleasant to be so low energy, I wouldn't worry just yet.

Regarding Protein, my NUT claims that the body has plenty of Protein stores (well, if anyone's body would have, it would be mine, since I used to eat huge amounts of protein pre-op) so there's no need to get in full protein right after surgery. My three-month anniversary was yesterday, and I'm still not getting in anywhere near enough protein...

I just went through this!

Im 8 weeks and have been getting all my Protein & Water and it has been easy-peasy recovery for me..... but last week I was exhausted every day! I fell asleep early and got up late, just wanted to linger on the couch and if I was outside (just laying in patio chair) I would get fatigued even easier!

I cant attribute it to anything- I doubled my B12 dose this week and seem to be a lot better off. I also changed it up so I walk/workout in the mornings instead of at night. im in a stall though- so maybe when the loss stalls.... so does the energy? :)

Its kinda random but its good to know that it just may be a quick phase. Hope you pass it soon.

You are doing great. I had the same problem dr and nut said because caloric intake is low. I am coming up on six months and energy levels are at all time high. I was cleared to exercise at 8 weeks and could not muster the energy to pack a bag for the gym let alone exercise . For me I had to block out the time and push myself to go at first I now do 45 min cardio minimum daily and weights very other - heaven help whoever gets in the way of that. Although it seems illogical, exercise is what helped me out of that funk

Thanks guys, I think I need to find a calorie intake balance......A minimum based on age and weight of calorie intake for me is 1480 and I know I dont get anywhere near that. Id be happy if I could get about 800 calories in a day, but im barely getting in 500 calories a day.

Lol.. I NEVER thought id have a problem eating enough!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
