readytobeslimxoxox 23 Posted May 30, 2012 Is it possible to have a leak 3 months out? What about 6 months or even a year post op? I'm still pre op and was just wondering. That seems so scary!
Amyl219 8 Posted May 30, 2012 I am also pre-op. I had a doctors appt today and asked the doctor, " If a leak were to occur when does it usually happen?" He said usually within the first 4-6 weeks after surgery. I would be interested to hear what other doctors have told people. Amy
Dooter 1,457 Posted May 30, 2012 Most people that have a leak at 3 months or more have had it since the early weeks and it is discovered later. This is a very very very low chance of happening. (Of course for the person who HAS the leak it is 100%, right?) Be confident in your surgeon's leak record. That's what kept me calm. There are symptoms that accompany most leaks, so an undetected leak is an even slimmer chance. I was also told that the major leak zone is in the 4-6 week range. 4ALongerLife 329 Posted May 30, 2012 I had a leak. I asked my dr. how long out after surgery it's possible to get them, and honestly? It's a long time. Longer than you think! But it's not likely to happen. Leaks ARE scary, but they are rare.
