Ladies: "the Pill" Post-Op?

Recommended Posts

So, I have (had?) PCOS and have been on "the pill" to stay regular for 12 years. After my surgery, my endocrinologist suggested stopping them for a few months to see if everything would regulate itself post-op.

It did! Yay!

But this month I started them again for actual contraceptive purposes (what a concept!). BUT I think I might quit them all together! Since I started them again, my weight loss slowed ALOT, which is ok, but I also don't feel great. I feel like I'm starving, I'm fatigued, I'm an emotional roller coaster, and my skin is breaking out. It's not worth it!!!

Anyone else have this experience???

I am no longer using the pill as a contraceptive because my surgeon told me that our bodies won't absorb the pills the same way and may be completely uneffective when it comes to preventing pregnancy . I don't know if that is true, but I am not going to risk it ha ha. Alot of women on here use mirena or other forms of contraceptives.

My surgeon said the pill was okay as long as I waited 30 day after surgery to start again, but I want to ask my GYN too & see what he thinks. I was on the Nuvaring for years until recently because I think my body was finally sick of the nuvaring.

My dr had a fit I went back on the pill right after surgery because it can cause blood clots and doesn't absorb right. The have a 3 month bc shot but it can cause weight gain ):

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
