I'm 7 days post op and I have lost 19 lbs so far and I'll be home for another 3 weeks. (I'm an over the road truck driver) Is it weird for me to step on my scale every time I pass it. I know eventually my weight loss will slow down. But it fun seeing it fall off for now. My wife says I'm obsessing. I don't think so. What do you think

I probably wouldn't do that, but on the other hand, I don't see anything wrong with it at all as long as you don't get discouraged when there is no change. After all, it's not immoral, illegal OR fattening!!

I don't think you should consider yourself weird. I have read about a lot of people who are 'scale obsessed' - for lack of better terminology.

Mostly I think you should try and relax about it. It WILL come off... But not every time you walk by the scale! :-)

I am scared to get on the scale. I am afraid it will show I gained wait! LOL

I get on every morning. However, i use it as a learning tool to help me know my own body and fluctuations and how different foods and exercise influence my body. I don't obsess over the number. It's not good to get on it throughout the day since it goes up and down with food and Water and other things throughout the day. Therefore, even if you weigh daily it should be under the same circumstances and the same time of day each day. Just don't be surprised when it stays the same or goes up instead of down since your body is still getting used to surgery and all the changes in your diet now.

Candyman, We all go through that after surgery... Just dont fret, with the calories you are eating you are going to lose.... try to stay OFF the scales Try to weigh only once a week at first then go to once a month..easy to say I know, It has been 8 mos for me, and I can finally NOT GET ON the scale everytime I get dressed. I only weigh weekly now, and sometimes still disappointed, but you have to remember, if you are working out you WILL lose INCHES, but no weight. you will actually gain some weight....the "fat" weight will come off, as long as you are putting the proper things in the "mouth"

:) Best of luck to you and keep us posted.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
