DeniseC 0 Posted August 22, 2006 HI everyone! My name is Denise and I live in Richmond, VA. I'm new to all of this but am very excited about the lapband. For the past couple of months, I've been doing research and have decided this is what I want to do. I am self-pay, as my insurance doesn't cover the surgery and my psychologist appointment is tomorrow. Next Monday, I meet with the dietician and surgeon, Dr. Carbonell of the VCU Obesity Center. I"ve only told a few people about the band and for the most part, everyone has been supportive. The odd thing is that my sister-in-law, who is an RN, has been trying to talk me out of it. She is also overweight and I'm not sure why she would want to talk me out of it. Anyone had experience with this? Anyway, I'm excited and thanks for all of the great info on this site! Dianne Tanner 0 Posted August 24, 2006 Hi Denise from Virginia, I,m new also. I had my lap band surgery 8/18/06 and just discovered this site while looking for recipies. I am a nurse and I got tired of being tired of trying to loose weight. 2 RN's in Ca. had this surgery and did quite well but it took this long to decide to do this. I,m glad I did it. The Richmond Surgical Group did my surgery and they did a good job. You go for it! Dianne Tanner

Elisabethsew 50 Posted August 24, 2006 Welcome! I suspect the RN you speak of was verbalizing her own thoughts and might have been jealous that you were being proactive in doing something to improve your life. I'm an RN and don't regret having the surgery.
