My date is July 24. It had been July 16 but was rescheduled because my surgeon is going to be out of town. I am keeping busy with work. We just went live with Epic at our Fargo hospitals on June 3 and then our clinics will be going live weekly. Then we have two more locations in Minnesota going live on July 1. I can't believe that it is already mid-June... and I'm on call 24/7 next week so I'll be super busy with that. I'm actually looking forward to the two weeks following my surgery for recuperating AND recharging.

I am getting sleeved on July 23rd. :) I am definitely obsessed with the whole thing and I am worried about the liquid diet. I wonder if anyone has experience with Atkins before the liquid starts? Is there any problem or risk with doing that? I want to drop some weight and get my stomach used to smaller meals before embarking on liquids or I might be so cranky that no one will be able to be around me. LOL

I want to be added to the secret group, Patrick, so I will message you my info.

Faganberry, I only see one ticker in your signature. I had to get rid of mine becausse there were two for some reason and they didn't seem to work anyway.

I look forward to getting to know you all better!

That would be me! I don't have a date yet, but I am pretty sure it will be July. We are going to do awesome! I try to keep my goals realistic and right now am just focusing on the first 100. At the same time I have so much excitement about the things I will be able to do at that point, that I practically have happy feet!!

I am in this same club! I want to lose 180 pounds!! I would REALLY like to lose more like 200, but I think for my age and build that is asking a bit much.

July 9th!!!! I'm overly excited!! Also overly worried to keep my 14lbs off that the Dr asked me to loose before the surgery. I'm mostly on liquids now and it is extremely hard not to eat much. I'm always cooking Breakfast, lunch and dinner for my family and to not have what they are eating is hard.

To pass the time start going to the gym and try toning because after the surgery and all the weight loss you don't want flabby skin. Try Water aerobic or weights.

this may sound stupid...but what is Epic?

Nope, that doesn't sounds stupid. :) If you aren't in the medical field, you probably wouldn't know about it. And most patients don't know the "real" name of the software that their hospital/clinic uses because each healthcare system has to rename their customized version of the software. (Ours is called One Chart.)

It's an electronic medical records software -- all encompassing, actually. Scheduling, health records, billing, labs, inpatient (hospital/ER), and ambulatory (clinic), etc. Information entered in one area is available to the other medical areas within the same medical region. AND... if you should go to another hospital anywhere in the world that also uses Epic, with your consent THAT hospital/clinic can access your records.

From the patient standpoint, what I really like is the patient's online access to most of their records via MyChart. The patient has access to current allergies, current medications, immunization records, current/past appointments. And the patient has the ability to request prescription refills, request/schedule appointments, pay bills, send secure messages to their doctor as well as the ability to have e-visits. AND... you can also proxy into someone else's records with their consent. (Another adult or your child/teen.) AND (the last one).. there's also a free MyChart app for the Android and iPhones! You can see all this information on your smartphone!!

This past December was our first go-live in three towns. The June go-live was HUGE. I am SO glad to say this is live now.

I'm mid July' date=' but don't have the exact date yet. I'm certainly getting really excited, and this site is helping me pass the time. I am also a teacher, and want to have as much time as possible before heading back to work. I'm also about to be a grandmother, so I'm pretty anxious about the birth happening before my surgery. I have two more pre-op classes and my final psych evaluation this week, and then should get my date. I'm doing okay with dropping a few pounds, but otherwise only have to do the pre-op diet for three days before. I'm mostly just trying to practice for all the changes coming up. I'm TRYING to stop drinking beer, but it's summer... I'm staying pretty active with yard work, walking and biking. I'm getting a bit obsessed with this. Imagine that a year from now we will all be having very different life experiences. I'm so glad to have this community for support.[/quote']

I have been trying to give up carbonation all together, I feel your pain! Summer is often equated with a cold beer! But I also loved soda. I found that the first few days were hard, but then I was okay. Yesterday, I had met up with a friend for brunch and I was running late cause of traffic and she has ordered me my go-to drink, a raspberry-lime ticket, and I didn't want to be rude so I drank some...the bubbles actually were uncomfortable because I hadn't had them in so long! So keep your spirits up...if you.can get past a certain point, you won't even want it anymore! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
