down50lbs 2 Posted May 29, 2012 I plan on calling my dr tomorrow, but just curious to know, what are the symptoms of a leak?...help!!!!
Webchickadee 716 Posted May 29, 2012 Pain, fever...if you had a leak, you wouldn't be "thinking about calling your doctor". You'd be in the ER demanding attention (or your family would be on your behalf). You would be DEATHLY ill! A VERY strong chance that your symptoms are not a leak, but please, do get checked out tomorrow. Just try not to drive yourself crazy worrying about that tonight (unless you DO have a high fever, excruciating pain and feel deathly ill....which I pray you don't!) Lissa 2,631 Posted May 29, 2012 I hope you don't have a leak either. The most common symptoms I've heard are pain, fever and throwing up bile. Webchickadee is right about the pain. Everyone that I've heard of having a leak all had a lot of pain from the get-go. If you're truly concerned, I wouldn't wait until tomorrow. I'd go tonight. Leaks can cause other infections and those infections can be deadly.

However, I can tell you that when my appendix burst I felt it instantly. I realize that a leak is not quite the same thing as a burst appendix but anything leaking into the peritoneum is bad news and will probably announce its presence with fever, etc. If in doubt get thee to an emergency room.
