raderwrxsti 1 Posted May 29, 2012 I had my gastric sleeve operation on March 14th of this year, and I'm down 65lbs (which is great) but my weight loss has already stalled a couple of times. Now it seems like its stalled for more than a week! I have been eating MUCH healthier than ever and I go to the gym 2-3 times a week for cardio workout. Anyone know what might be causing my weight loss to stall like this?
MyGastricSleeveLife 180 Posted May 29, 2012 From what I've read, there can be lots of factors & weight loss slows down the farther out from surgery we are too. Depending on your workout & food intake, you might need to up your calories somewhat in order to lose again & break the habit your body is in now. My surgeon told one patient to alternate and do around 800 calories one day & then 900 & then 800 again so her body didn't get completely use to one level of calories. However, I know it's not his advice for everyone. I'd suggest trying some things like that and also talking to your surgeon and/or dietitian again if possible too. They may have other ideas too. Finding MeMe 204 Posted May 29, 2012 I had mine on 23 Jan and have lost 60 lbs to date. I work out 60-90 min per day, 6 days per week and I am happy with my wt loss. I recommend to hide your scale and take it our once per week to weigh yourself. Sometimes we get addicted to seeing a loss when we get on the scale. We will all experience stalls because our body is adjusting to the weight loss and hate to lose weight. Stalls are good and as long as you are not gaining you are doing great. Good luck to you. 1 pamr reacted to this
raderwrxsti 1 Posted May 29, 2012 Thanks everyone! I also read online about "starvation mode" and it seems to have some myths, however some truth. My calorie intake is most always less than 1000 calories a day and from what I read that could be part of the problem. I dunno maybe I'm freaking out over nothing. 1 Finding MeMe reacted to this
