For The People Who Stomachs Hurt

Recommended Posts

Every time you eat ( in the earlier stages like up to four weeks ) have you experienced more pain while eating when you are sitting down? I feel that i hurt worse while eating and sitting and the pain eases up if i stand and eat. Maybe we're putting pressure on our stomach while sitting? Am i alone? I'm two weeks out today.

I haven't had my surgery yet, but will have it on June 13. I am curious... Does everyone experience pain while eating after surgery, let's say, after the first couple of weeks? If so, after how many weeks before the pain finally stops? Do some people have pain forever when they eat? That would b horrible if there is a chance u would always have pain while eating... the thought of something like that is really scary! I am hoping that alot of people will respond to this question so we can tell what the overall situation is for most.

Also, does everyone get reflux so bad that medication is necessary everyday?

Thanks

ps... guess I am getting a bit nervous....

Right after surgery burping hurt a bit. That went away. I started puréed foods & 1 of the first batches I made was too thick. That was uncomfortable but easy to fix for the next meal. Now on solids & it only hurts if I eat too much too quickly. I love my sleeve!!! Good luck : )

Just to help you out so somebody will answer your question, i was worried about the pain pre surgery as well and everybody kept telling me it wouldnt be so bad and not everybody experiences the pain. Well when i woke up after surgery im not gonna lie, it sucked. the pain was quite bad but after the first few days i promise you will start to feel soo much better and after the first week you will start to not feel much pain at all. im 3 weeks out now and i have already lost 35ibs and it feels amazing. Just remember that when you go through it, its going to get better and when time goes by youll forget about all of it and just be happy that your finally loosing weight and having energy.

I wound up having my gallbladder removed last May, and the pain was extreme with that surgery. I am thinking that this is going to be easier than that surgery was. I am not really too concerned about a short term pain, such as after surgery, but I am much more worried about the longer term pain. The lady above, Irishqwn5, said she has pain off and on since her surgery in December. That is 6 mos ago.... I am wondering how many other people still have pain 6 mos later.....By then, you should be completely healed.

I've never had any pain.

I don't think it's normal to have pain after the first week or so. I can eat anything, without any trouble. I followed the post op diet to the letter, but I stayed on liquids and mushies longer because solids just made me too full.

I do still take an acid blocker. I tried to go off of it, but the acid was not worth it. It's well controlled with my medication.

I'm 7 weeks out. The pain is Diffrent for everyone. I had my gall bladder out August 2011 and VSG ln April 2012. Gall bladder hurt a lot more and recovery was much slower. As far as pain from VSG I had pain the first week and was on doctor's prescribed pain meds and slept all the time. Week 2 I had pain but did not need the pain meds anymore, by end of week 2 I was almost normal. Went out shopping etc. tired, by the end of the day but nothing terrible. week 3 feeling great resuming all normal activities. Week 4 I went back to work, I had pain that week. Doctor said I "popped a suture" took Tylenol pain went away 2 days later. Now 7 weeks out, I feel like I had nothing done except for I lost 40 pounds and went from a size 20-22 to a 14-16.....NO regrets, I'd do it again in a heart beat.

I'm almost 4 weeks post op and no matter what I eat my stomach hurts and I feel week. Also having a hard time getting my Water in and Protein

Things should get easier. You should stay on Protein Drinks if you're having trouble with mushies. Try to sip on crystal light if it's hard for you to drink water. You may have to set a timer to take a sip, every 10 min. Remember it doesn't have to be water. You can drink propel, or whatever you like that you can get down. At this point , it's more important to stay hydrated and protein will come later.

Thank you. No matter what kind of Protein I buy or try to drink it's not helping. Cause it make me nauseated or makes me sick. I've tried some of everything f t on crystal light propel Water power aid zero and even regular water. Today I think I got a total of 24 oz of water, 16 oz of sugar free juice and about 30 grams of protein. I'm trying my best to hold on. I'm just praying for better days and more easier days, because my stomach is starting to growl from hunger pain

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
