aouzenian 5 Posted May 28, 2012 I AM SERIOUSLY FREAKING OUT AND FEEL LIKE I MADE A HUGE MISTAKE. HOW AM I GOING TO FEEL RIGHT AFTER SURGERY? DOES IT REALLY WORK? WILL I SURVIVE DURING SURGERY... WHAT THE HECK SHOULD I DO... I FEEL LIKE I WANT TO CANCEL THE ENTIRE THING AND JUST STAY OBESE!!
kczar 166 Posted May 28, 2012 It's normal to be scared before surgery. Yes, there is a risk to this or any other procedure. All you can do is weigh that risk against the risk of staying obese and developing life-threatening or life-shortening conditions. Only you can decide if it's worth it or not. But from what I've seen on this board, even most of those who have significant complications would still get sleeved if they had to do it again. Take care. kiki19 16 Posted May 28, 2012 It works...It won't be overnight, but it definitely works...In a few weeks, you won't really think about your surgery that much...It took about 4 weeks to be normal, but it will be the best thing you have ever done for yourself...just take a deep breath. Everything will be all right...It works....I mean, after four weeks, you will be able to eat something substantial, and you do worry a lot over food choices in the first few weeks...Now, I am trying to get into exercising and being on a healthful diet that works for me...which means Protein, veges, and a few fruits...Everybody here will be sending prayers your way!!!! Think positive...I thought about baling out in the pre-op area...haha...the nurse said it was my last chance to change my mind...I told her to just put me to sleep so I wouldn't chicken out. Sending positive thoughts your way. 1 Lisa's Hope reacted to this

MinaT 669 Posted May 29, 2012 Good luck and best wishes and thoughts are with you. As the day creeps closer, I am getting more nervous so I am sure I will be posting the same thing next Sunday night. See you on the other side!
Finding MeMe 204 Posted May 29, 2012 You'll be ok, before surgery I placed it in God's hands and I was OK. 1 sleeve 4 me reacted to this
karenb4729 309 Posted May 29, 2012 I'm pretty sure I will also be posting the same thing next Sunday night too. Part of the problem is that we think of this as elective surgery but it really isn't. For most of us we need this surgery to extend our lives because if we continue down the path without this surgery we will surely shorten our lives. I have resigned myself to the fact that I will probably go in and out of the regret stage however, I cannot continue to eat the way I do so anything that changes that will be a good thing. I'm worried about something happening to me because of the surgery - had a good friend who lost her husband after shoulder surgery when he had an embolism, he was 41. I guess things can happen to us at anytime and if I worried about everything that could cause my death then I would never live my life. 1 MinaT reacted to this

WHAT THE HECK SHOULD I DO... I FEEL LIKE I WANT TO CANCEL THE ENTIRE THING AND JUST STAY OBESE!! - Bettering your health is never a mistake - It will work because it forces you to reduce portions - It works, just look at the hundreds of happy people from here or watch some youtube stories of people who went through it. - Recovery from surgery is quick (as you can see from the post of the people on here) - What should you do? Look at tomorrow as the first day of your new life and embrace it! Start a motivated outlook and claim this year as the year for YOU! 1 sleeve 4 me reacted to this

MinaT 669 Posted May 29, 2012 Good luck to you Pat Marincel. Karen, I feel the same way. I found pictures of my Great Grandmother who passed away at 49. Kind of shocking, because it's a reflection of who I was 7 months ago, when I started this process. I will be 49 this year. Sunday Night hopefully we'll sleep well and we'll do great on Monday. 1 Thegoddesszili reacted to this
