Has anyone had issues with cramping? For those who are post sleeve, any issues with malabsorption. Check out this video on YouTube:

I'm only 3 minutes into this video, but right off, my hackles are up because she's lumping sleevers in with bypass patients with deficiencies and other issues. My Vitamin D levels were down PRE op. Since my surgery (3 1/2 months) I've been really bad about getting my Vitamins in, but I'm eating SOOO much better now, that I do NOT have any Vitamin deficiencies whatsoever. I did get some good Vitamins from my cardiologist that I can stomach and have been good about taking them for the last 2 weeks, so I feel even better.

The typical diet any of us were on was sooo lacking in nutrition, that most of us were overweight and malnourished- if that makes any sense....anyway...I'm going to watch the rest of the video now.

Oh ya-- I do not have any cramping issues, to answer your original question..... (I say all of this in good spirit, not angry or anything :) )

I also believe she is mistaken about where most of the nutrients are absorbed. I've always heard that most nutrients are absorbed in the small intestine.

I think she is lumping them in because there are some similarities. She is sleeved. I was just curious if this is her experience or something I would experience. I guess the point she is making is Vitamins are very important.

This is just NOT true. Most sleeveeprs do not have Vitamin deficiencies and can gain all nutrients needed through their diet. While it is advisable to take B, Calcium and multi there ar snot malabsorption issues. There just aren't! Iam two years out. I experienced a period of very low potassium early on because of very rapid weight loss and not following strict enough to dietary needs but since then, no. Also took Vitamin D by prescription but most of my friends have too from their Drs and they haven't had WLS. It's the new thing to look for concerning women and heart disease so Drs are much more aware of it. I didn't want to have bypass because of the malabsorption issues

You don't have malabsorption with the sleeve. You should take a multi Vitamin everyday, whether you have a full stomach or 1/4 of one.

Ya, I think a lot of this is her own personal experience, which is real for her, but I have not had any of the issues she speaks of. Muscle cramping can happen to anyone on the planet if they are dehydrated. My husband gets that in his legs when he doesn't drink enough. (He's a skinny boy...). I would not worry about any of it. If you follow orders, you should be fine. :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
