July 4Th Challenge

Recommended Posts

I'm joining in. I lost 21# in the Memorial Day Challenge; but my loss is really slowing down' date=' so I am going to set this goal at 12#. That is about 2# a week, so I think that is reasonable.

Yaay! Georgia, I'm a Georgia too! Great work in the WL. I started the challenge too. Upped exercise by bike riding 2-3 miles a day and have lost 4 lbs this week. No snacking and low carb is working! Lol

No loss this week. I was in Mexico with my sister getting her sleeve, I hardly ate, didnt drink and was very busy. I guess not enough calories or Water will make you stall. I am really drinking Water today so maybe tomorrow I can report a loss. Good luck everyone! We can do this!

REVISED!!!

Now that the Memorial Day Challenge is officially over' date=' who wants to join me in the July 4th Challenge? We have a little over 5 weeks in this challenge so I will make a few goals:

1. Get to Onederland

2. Lose 11 lbs

3. Work out 3-4 times per week

4. Track all my food in My Fitness Pal

5. Get to week 5 of Couch to 5K

My starting weight for this challenge is 201 lbs. Good Luck to everyone![/quote']

I had to quote myself so I would know what to report today.

1. I made it to Onederland today, but barely at 199.8. I'll take it, but hope it stays under 200-it's barely under.

2. I lost 1.2 lbs last week so 9.8 more to go in 4 weeks left of this challenge.

3. Worked out 3 times last week-hard. Yay me!

4. Got better, but not consistent with tracking my food this week. Need to do this every day.

5. On week 2 of Couch to 5k and rode my bike for 10 miles last night.

Next week goal...

1. Get to 197.8 or less

2. Work out 3 times

3. Track all my food in myfitnesspal

4. Finish week 2 and start week 3 of Couch to 5k and use my brand new FitBit every day.

Good luck everyone!!!

Count me in guys. So I am 229 right now. I think 15 pounds is doable. So lets strive for 214. I work out 4 days a week' date=' eat only Protein, and have a 16 month old.. In the bag.. lol[/quote']

Ok, so not going like I thought it would. Lost 1 pound in two weeks. Still just Protein, 4 to 5 days working out (cardio and weight training... Trying to lose and tone at the same time). Guess a bit of a stall but I'll still get it. 3 weeks it's still doable. Going to up my Water intake and keep going. Great job everyone so far :-)

First challenge!

Surgery date: 5/21

Surgery weight: 250.5

Current weight: 238

Goal: 220

I'm only a week out from surgery' date=' so not sure if it's realistic, but going to give it a go![/quote']

9 days since my post. CW = 230. 10 more to go. Getting a sense I might be near a slow down, so only revision is to break 220...do I hear 219?! :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
