We're here I'm pre op and mostly just reading and preparing myself for sept. I'm 40 so I'm not sure if that's a young or old man?

Your only as old as ya feel.

Preparing was the best thing I ever did. Talking to people knowing what to expect. It all helps a lot !! Why did you pick September if you don't mind me asking?

Well I'm scared to death of dehydration because even though I suppose to have an office job I do end up working out in our plant alot. Everything puts off heat average temp in the summer is 105 in the plant. Some places as high as 140 (plastic industry) so I wanted it be be starting to get cool. Plus my title is special projects mgr and were in the middle of a couple of large machine installs so I'm needed more now than then. I waited until mid sept because my 14th wedding aniversary is sept 5 and wanted to have fun before I couldn't for a while:)

Well that makes sense. Dehydrating is like a huge thing an I didn't take it serious till I dehydrated my 2nd day home but gosh its so hard to drink when u feel pain everytime u take a small sip thank god that only lasted about 4 days. But anyways That's awesome and will be giving a great anniversary present to yourself "a new you"! Good luck!!!!

26 and checking in. I'm sure there are more of us young guys lurking around. I have yet to be sleeved - July 20th is my date. But I've been sticking to my diet and doing weights and cardio. Started at 337 and currently at 293. It ain't easy, that's for sure. But I'm having fun with it and I have a great support system so I think all will be just fine.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
