Thegoddesszili 56 Posted May 28, 2012 Hi, I am in a 2 week diet before having my surgery. I am right know 233pounds and am only 4'11 feet tall. I started the liquid diet 5-21-12. I can say I feel very fustrated with the liquid diet. I have been In the replace 2 meal with Protein Shakes and 1 heathy meal before. I never been in a a strict liquid diet before. I been very moody because I am the only one to cook at home and is torture to cook and knowing you can not eat but drink liquids. It has been frustrating but is not the food that I am really craving is my daily cup of coffee that I am craving my caffeine. I know is not good but it has been years of drinking coffee and I get bad headache because of the coffee. Ok my question is after the surgery how long after the surgery can I begin the exersice? I would not feel right with saggy skin. Amy suggestion I will apreciated. 2 sdb1147 and MinaT reacted to this
Flyingsaucer 9 Posted May 28, 2012 You can def start walking as soon as your out of surgery. If you plan on just making walking your main workout you can do that ASAP. Put the other things will take a couple of weeks. 1 sdb1147 reacted to this
Liberated Sleeve 148 Posted May 28, 2012 I drank my morning coffee up until the day before surgery But, that was me - they didn't rule it out and it was liquid!
sdb1147 54 Posted May 28, 2012 I haven't gottten to setting a surgery date yet. My Endoscopy is June 7, then it's a waiting approval for insurance (Medicare) approval. The insurance specialist said it should be within 2-weeks. I, like you, am addicted to coffee. I'm trying to find some alternatives: instant coffee, coffee flavored shakes/smoothies, etc. Not sure about the caffeine withdrawals. Someone recommended de-caf. MinaT 669 Posted May 28, 2012 I was a hardcore coffee drinker and I gave it up before the pre-op diet. I almost wanted to quit after the six month pre-approval diet, because I didn't want to quit coffee. That's insanity. I switched to decaff and i had a headache for two days then I was fine, you will be fine too, I promise. I thought I wouldn't be able to wake up, I thought I wouldn't be able to go potty without it, it's all fine now. Tell yourself it's fine and decaff is better than nothing and eventually it will be. They have you quit for a reason, dehydration is a biggest reason. You will be struggling to get your Water in and dehydration can kill you. Why take a chance. Also, why go through caffeine withdrawals on top of all the other issues you are going to have right after surgery. It will be some time after surgery before you can have caffeine, if ever, so best of luck on this. I have to cook also for my family and I'm on day 7 of the liquids and I understand what you are going through. We can get through this!!! Following doctor's advice is always for the best. They will want you to walk after surgery to get rid of the gas and other reasons. As far as lifting anything or any other exercise it is usually 4 - 6 weeks out - just listen to what your doctor says. Best of luck 2 Thegoddesszili and PEvette reacted to this

Souledout 31 Posted May 28, 2012 I'm a diet mountain dew addict. Seriously, I drink like 10 a day. This might be harder than smoking
MinaT 669 Posted May 28, 2012 Souledout, there is a new crystal light with Caffeine it it, maybe limit yourself to one of those a day for a while, so you can get rid of the carbonation addiction and still keep your caffeine, then switch it up with regular crystal light. It's just a suggestion. I used to love flavored seltzer Water and Sierra Mist Natural and real coffee. Best of luck to you. Thegoddesszili, you should be SO PROUD OF YOURSELF!!!! You quit smoking and now you are on day 7 of shakes and quitting coffee. You are one strong woman, and you need to give yourself some credit for all you are doing for your future, all you are doing for your children by working on your health! We can do this! Here's a link to all the people that are having surgery in June by date: http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/39962-am-going-for-the-sleeve-surgery-soon/ 1 Thegoddesszili reacted to this
