Star1221 270 Posted May 27, 2012 You will be tired. That's a given. But I found the more I walked, the better. There should be still some mild pain. I had pulled a muscle in my chest trying to keep from hurting my stomach, so I was dealing with that. Other than that, not horrible. Just really tired. kiki19 16 Posted May 27, 2012 Three days, I was still tired. It took about two weeks to start feeling good. Even now, at 7 weeks out, I still sometimes get a little tired, but now I don't have to worry about food...or no food.< /p> 1 MinaT reacted to this
JennyB 25 Posted May 27, 2012 3 days out I was still in pain, tired very easily, but I was so thankful to be at home and thankful that I was feeling better than I did day 1 after surgery. My stomach made the craziest noises every time I drank something. I was struggling to get my Protein shake, daily Water intake (actually didn't achieve that goal until yesterday, day 5!) and my Vitamins. I was still pretty emotional, mostly at night getting ready for bed, don't know why but that is just when my emotions hit me the hardest. Now I am at day 6 (wow, where did time go?!?) and feel better everyday, first things in the morning are rough just because everything is kind of stiff and I still have mild pain on my left side, then by the end of the day I get the pain back on my left side when I start winding down. But I have gone from taking my pain meds every 4 hours to taking it once in the morning and before bed, yesterday after a big day out I took half a dose when I got home, but other than that things are starting to fall into a routine I guess. Hang in there!! 1 MinaT reacted to this
Lissa 2,631 Posted May 27, 2012 I've been high energy ever since surgery, but the first few days were a struggle to walk more and I was still trying to figure out my full signal. I had lots of pain in my left shoulder, kind of a dull achy feeling. I finally figured out that my shoulder was telling me when my sleeve was full, Duh on me! I remember forcing myself to walk: up and down the hallway in my apartment, around the smaller end of my building. I took over walking my dog from my son just to make myself walk. People are sick of hearing it, but the best thing to do immediately after this surgery is walk, walk, walk and sip, sip, sip. It's the fastest way to help your body heal. 1 MinaT reacted to this

mommymar 34 Posted May 27, 2012 Day 3 felt like day 1 to me too. I was still in the hospital because I was throwing up. Day 4 was the first day I felt, "okay, I guess I wouldn't do anything to take it back" up til then I just kept thinking what did I do? Walking is the trick (you will hear it over and over and over) I am 3 weeks out tomorrow. Feeling about 90% these days. But I am down 20 lbs so it helps the pain :-)
his2my2our4 120 Posted May 27, 2012 Don't feel discouraged...day 3 is still very early on! Walk and sip...listen to your body and rest/nap when you need to. Very soon you'll begin to feel more and more like yourself, and before you know it, these early days will be a distant memory!! Welcome to the loser's bench!!!
