I am one week post op from the sleeve gastrectomy. I started out at 266 lbs and am now down to 150. I haven't lost any weight since wednesday and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Could it be that I'm not getting enough Protein or does this happen?? Please help....

You're not doing anything wrong. You aren't going to lose weight every single day. Your body has to catch up. You will go through numerous stalls. You will have times where you lose inches instead of pounds. It's normal. But, you will not see that scale drop daily. Of that, I am positive. You have to burn 3500 calories to lose a pound. Just hang in there and don't worry. It will come off. Slower is better anyway because you have less skin sagging and perhaps less Hair loss.< /p>

Are you weighing daily? If so you should know that it could be very dicouraging when you dont see scale movement. I used to do that -- weigh every other day - it was so frustrating. Then my doc advised to weigh weekly for the first 3 months and then once every two weeks. That helps with the peace of mind LOL

AND -- everyone goes through stalls in this journey. Most famous one is the 3rd week stall. Happens to almost everyone. Be prepared for that too and dont freak out. You'll do great! Concentrate on your Protein and Fluid intake - everything will fall in place.

All the best!! :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
