Kat1 24 Posted May 26, 2012 Why can we not chew gum?
phatdivabbw 86 Posted May 26, 2012 It actually depends on how long you have been sleeved. Eventually you will be able to chew gum however your sleeve is healed and you are eating regular food you should not chew gum. Here is the explanation my surgeon gave me. When you chew gum your stomach starts to release acids because your chewing is a signal food is on it's way down. We do not want to confuse our sleeve because it's still healing and learning to behave properly.

mmorral 19 Posted May 26, 2012 My surgeon also told me that you are just chewing on air and it can cause gas in the early stage of being sleeved. It is the same as straw drinking. It just depends on your tolerance
