Pantozol...how Do I Take It?

Recommended Posts

Hey there....sleeved by aceves on Monday. He gave me pantozol granules to take daily for acid reduction. But how the heck do you take it? I've tried putting in like an oz of Water, then an oz of apply juice but those suckers don't seem to dissolve...they just sit there at the bottom of the glass mocking me, lol. I emailed Nina and she said to put in a half glass of water...but a half glass for those tiny granules, which will take me a bit to get down, seems nutters. Anyone figure it out? I may just switch to Prilosec. Thoughts?!

I'm not using pantozol (I'm cracking open a Nexium capsule and sprinkling those granules), but I found this online (grain of salt, of course):

The oral granules should be mixed only with applesauce or apple juice to make swallowing easy. Do not use any other type of liquid or soft food. Pantoprazole granules may also be given with apple juice through a nasogastric (NG ) tube.

I've been sprinkling my Nexium granules on top of a spoonful of applesauce and I haven't had any problems.

they don't have to disolve, just take a little shot glass put apple juice on it an put the pantozol on it and drink it or over apple sauce and eat it, just never chew them or crush them ;)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
