Preacher's Wife 14 Posted May 26, 2012 Almost two weeks out and very sad and depressed. I hate the way I'm feeling and I'm not the type of person to feel sorry for herself. Physically I couldn't ask to be any better, mentally i am a basket case !!

shellbell33081 115 Posted May 26, 2012 I can relate. I think we all go through it. This is a huge change and we are out of our comfort zone. It was easy to grab a box of Cookies, sit on the couch and watch a movie. That was what we are used to, but now we can't do that. It is really hard to adjust, but it really does get better. Hang in there and know we are here for ya 2 CantBelieve_IdidIit! and arj1016 reacted to this
LadyIvy 159 Posted May 26, 2012 It wouldn't hurt to talk to a professional. However, you should know that when you lose massive amounts of weight at one time, hormones trapped in the adipose tissue that is dissolving randomly begin to release in your blood. This can last for the entire weight loss period but is worse in the beginning when you are losing quickly. If you find yourself not able to do or enjoy normal activity for 3 weeks or more, get some help.

Corange 20 Posted May 27, 2012 oh boy, hearing this i'm suddenly nervous. I have bipolar and have times of deep depression periodically. from the sounds of it that may be worse for awhile? Hi Ladyarwenrose, Have you or are you going to have a psych eval as part of your pre-surgical requirements? Your manic depression would be something that you will probably want to discuss with the psychologist who does that with you so that you are prepared for any kind of depression that may result. Good luck and I hope that you don't experience any ill effects!

Animallover77357 0 Posted May 27, 2012 I too am VERY bi-polar and been diagnosed years ago. I used to eat when depressed/anxious/nervous and no longer have that to turn to. I am having the hardest time right now

Rootman 1,101 Posted May 27, 2012 Same here, I think the stress of the surgery, lingering effects of the anesthesia, massive caloric shortfall, rapid weight loss and system kicking into ketosis ALL conspire to throw our metabolism - and therefore our mental state - into a tizzy. I second the suggestion of seeking out a professional, as well as a good friend that you can just sit down and have a good cry, or two or three with too. I wish you the best, you WILL get over it, but expect bouts of it from time to time as your body adjusts. Good luck girl. 1 CantBelieve_IdidIit! reacted to this
