alovio 76 Posted May 26, 2012 I am about 5 weeks post op. I am starting to try different foods. But chicken that i use love so much doesnt sit with me well anymore I have tried it different ways and each time it makes me throw up. Does anyone else have this problem. Eating is really becoming a chore. On the brighter side I am loosing weight just sometimes I smell something and want some but I know I cannot handle that any longer. I guess I'll just stick to protien shakes and cottage cheese.
ibthin 3 Posted May 26, 2012 Im 4 weeks out and it seems that chicken and fish is all I can eat. I have found it very hard to stay on pureed stuff but I did make some chicken, added a little broth and blended and noticed it did go down much easier for me. Talapia I had no problem with at all. How much are you eating at 5 weeks out?

How much are you eating at 5 weeks out? not really much, tops a 1/2 cup of anything. Anymore than that makes me feel like when i use to go to buffets. But your right mushie foods are much easier. Havent tried fish yet. I think my biggest problem is knowing when I am full.
ibthin 3 Posted May 26, 2012 I have a hard time knowing when I am full as well. I have not thrown up yet, i just pull away when I feel pain. I then stand and walk around a little to help the food go down. I feel like I may be eating too much? I think 1 cup (sometime less). Wonder if I am eating too fast sometimes. At 4 weeks out I feel like I have hit a stall. I have lost 14 lbs since surgery date and don't seem to be making much more progress. Getting frustrated with that. The talapia I tried was from Sams, already seasoned and really tasted great, it was very tender. Will definitely have it again.
smileen 17 Posted May 26, 2012 My nut. had me at 1/3C. for several months. I found grilled chicken cut up small with brown gravy and a veggie or a little baked red potato worked 4 me I don't like the mushy chicken with broth. But my nut. said if something doesn't settle on the stomach wait a week and try again.
katyb 36 Posted May 26, 2012 Are you just trying chicken breasts? For the amount you'll be eating, the calorie difference between breasts and thighs is negligible. It's a moister piece and may go down more easily. Plus, it just has so much more flavor!
TheNewSusie 471 Posted May 26, 2012 Try cooking a Cornish hen in a crockpot with some hidden valley ranch powder and olive oil on low for 5-6 hours and it falls off the bone. U can add veggies too like broccoli and califlower. Take it easy on the ranch because of the sodium. Make sure u peel off the skin before eating. It's good and simple. 2 shellbell33081 and kiki19 reacted to this
sarahcc 184 Posted May 26, 2012 Rotisserie chickens are like Heaven to me now at 6 weeks. My suggestion for chicken and any Proteins are to a.) Soft and moist, and b.) Take it slooooow. I found that literally I could only eat 2 bites of anything without being sick and then I really slowed down and it helps. Take your portion ans MAKE yourself take 30-45 minutes to eat. I literally had to watch the clock. Every 3 minutes, I took a bite. Swallowed, waited 3 more minutes, etc. I was a speed eater when I was pre-op so this process has been downright painful for me but I can tolerate more types and quantities of food to meet my Protein goals without supplements. Hope that helps! Good luck!!

I had about an 18-day stall after my third week...then, I magically lost ten pounds overnight...so just hang in there. I will be 7 weeks, Tuesday, so my stall was really at 4 weeks out:)
