May 14th was my surgery. If feel physically fine but it's all the mental games. I've been having horrible mood swings. Something I've never had before. I guess I'm mourning food sounds stupid I know.

I have been emotional as well, but I think for me its because I'm restricted on my activity and driving!!! Don't like being "tied down". And I still get so exhausted after 30 minutes of activity, like I get pale, feel like I'm going to vomit and pass out!! :-( Some of the foods and feelings while trying to get them down are definantly hard for me as well.....yesterday was an uncomfortable day as was earlier before my nap!! Forget me trying to get in my basic requirements....that has NOT been happening, even as much as I have tried!!!

BTW I had my surgery at Bayshore Hospital in Houston, I am a RN in L&D at Clear Lake Hospital.....I am a mother to 4, Nana to 1-1/2....and have kept this a secret from the majority of my coworkers!!!

That's alright my husband pastors a church of 200 that I stand in front of every Sunday and I've told very few. I didn't even tell my own Mom. It's not that I'm ashamed or ebarrased Its just not the right time. I hate the thought of being on stage every week and people wondering if and what I've lost.

My sister and I were both sleeves 5/17 and we are still having pains, and slow days. We are so

Outgoing and involved with all our kiddos that being "down" is not an option. We did to

Upgraded to yogurt, cream Soups, etc so things are looking up!

Same here i was sleeved on may 17th too. There is just alot of tightness around my surgical sight. I take a dose of the pain meds they gave me with something to eat and then start walking and moving around. That way you aren't really feeling the pain. Hope that helps. (=

The only thing i would suggest about the food is switch up the flavors of everything you eat. Try diff flavored sf popsicles, yogurt minus the fruit, Protein Shakes, etc.

I was the 17th as well- I've been very emotional- nothing is satisfying me- try to eat the suggested list- sick of everything- can't force it down- hard time sleeping never get more than 2 hours at a time.

I kinda cheated today took a few small bites of egg- chewed them to liquid- very slowly- was able to not have my stomach growl for a few hours and even got a true nap in!

How bad of a mistake did I make?

Trying to finish off my day with the list again :-(

I know everyone's different- but when does it get better?

Peaceful: Your choice wasnt horrible since your stomach was able to handle it. Its hard because you want to eat so bad! I can only suggest switching up the flavors of whatever your being allowed to eat. Unfortunately it is a waiting game with this surgery and you have to wait out this period. Try diff flavored popsicles, diluted juices, etc. I have always struggled with Water so what i do to get it all in is bought a huge pitcher filled it with water and bought fruit. I cut up oranges, strawberries, kiwis, and lemon and put them in the pitcher to steep. I found that after letting them sit in the water for a day it gave the water a nice taste. Stay focused on the end goal not the right now. This to shall pass. [= good luck

I have never thrown up yet- but pushing eating the same things over is making me nauseated.

And my pain meds don't sit we'll anymore :-(

Sorry to complain

Peaceful: no complaints doll. My pain meds aren't quite doing it either. I dont have any advice as far as the pain meds go but try talking to your doctor see if you can proceed to the next stage so you can have more of a variety. Stick to your Protein Shakes if thats all you can stomach. Good luck hun

I was just cleared for soft foods but when I was on straight liquids after surgery I cheated with a small piece of chicken but what I did was take a bite, chew chew chew, then spit it out (gross, I know) but for me, I just felt like I wanted to chew. I am sure no Dr would say to do it, but it did work for me.

I was sleeved on May 19th, but I was a revision patient, from a lap band with plication to VSG. It was an emergency surgery, but we had been planning to do it: just not as an emergency! So, this post-op diet is not my first rodeo. I have found take out Soups to be a godsend these past few days. Yesterday I called my favorite Chinese food spot and ordered egg drop Soup. It was the most delicious thing I have ever consumed I think! Theirs is chicken broth based and very thin, so it has the favors of the green onions/shrimp, but none of the hard to digest items. I also had some of my favorite broth based tortilla Soup from a local Mexican place one evening. Maybe this will help some of you, as it has for me. Also, let me pat you all on the back for choosing the VSG rather than doing a band. I am so glad to have that thing out: it never worked properly for me, and I can already tell this procedure is going to work so much better for me. I lost weight with my band, but only because it turned me into a bullemic, basically.

The best treat this week: a "gourmet" Popsicle shop just opened up in town! Good timing, I would say!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
