For pre-ops: Cheap Optifast on eBay

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Just to help out any Aussie pre-ops who need to do pre-op Optifast, I ordered mine from an eBay trader, much cheaper than anywhere else.

There are a number of eBay traders selling various Optifast products. Suggest you research prices in your local area, and don't buy from eBay if the total costs (including postage) are higher than your local pharmacy. Trade safely - always research the trader's feedback ad turnover, and only buy & pay via eBay approved methods.

The deal I got was $162.50 ($150.95 plus $11.55 postage) for FOUR boxes of the milkshake (4 weeks supply). Purchased last Thursday, delivered this Monday.

Chemist Warehouse is currently selling Optifast shakes for $44.95 per box. They seem to be the cheapest retail supplier around. If there are no stores in your area, you can order online from them too, although I don't know what the postage costs would be. (Soup, bars and dessert from my local Chemist Warehouse store, as I wanted them all without delays, and couldn't be bothered trying to find all three from one eBay trader, and then negotiate discount postage.

Hope this helps to keep the pre-op costs down!

Cheers.

If your in or near mulgrage the direct outlet is only about 2km from the valley private hospital on police road - you can buy direct there usually cheaper than anywhere else if anybody in that area needs any.

I have some Optifast left over, that I want to get rid of. I know that some say to hold onto it, but I am NEVER having that stuff again if I can help it.

I have heaps of vanilla and choc shakes, chicken Soup, choc mousse desert. More than enough for a pre-op bandster. PM me if you are interested. I'll sell it at cost plus postage (or we could organise a delivery / pick up).

------------EDIT---------------

I have decided to list my Optifast on eBay. My eBay username is spacscrap.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
