Can You Have Tofu? Tuna And Mayo?

Recommended Posts

My post op diet stages are...

First week: Clear liquids.

Second week: full liquids.< /p>

Third week: pureed foods.

Fourth and fifth week: soft foods.

Do you think tofu would work for the soft food stage?

Also has anyone had tuna and mayo blended for there pureed stage?

I had started tuna and mayo in the puréed stage.. Just make sure it's super thin consistency- lemon juice helps thin it out

I was allowed to skip pureed foods and go to soft foods. tuna was the very first thing I had. Even without it being super thin, it was just fine for me.

Oh, I think tofu would work just fine for soft foods (I'm allowed to have regular ground meats!) since it's so soft, depending on how its cooked.

Tofu was on my pureed stage diet and I cook it with reduced sodium soy sauce and a few drops of sesame seed oil. Yum! I have to wait till next week when I transition to the soft food stage to have tuna and mayo. Can't wait!

Tofu is your friend! I LOVE it. I got a thing of hot and sour Soup from a Chinese restaurant and strained out the solids (keeping the tofu); then I added more tofu to soak up the flavor of that yummy broth--Oh that was delicious after a couple of weeks of liquids!!

You can also bake tofu in marinara sauce (along the lines of the famous Eggface ricotta cheese bake recipe) for an Italian fix. Man, now I need some tofu!!

This search on Google can help: tofu recipes ("low fat" OR "low calorie" OR healthful)

Also, you can puree tofu in the blender along with some splenda or equal + Water or milk + fruit or Protein powder - even green leafy vegetables, such as spinach!. Puree it on the highest speed (I have a VitaMix). Add a few ice cubes and puree them as well. You have a smoothee. You essentially turntofu into a liquid. This pureeing technique works with firm, medium, soft and silken textures of tofu. I do find that different brands of tofu have different flavors. My own personal favorite brand is Mori Nu. You can order cases of Mori Nu online. But other people might find other brands to be better. Tofu always has helped me lose weight in the past. I hope that this information is helpful.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
