Good luck Newfmom. I'm assuming you have Newfies from your screen name. I do too, hence the reason for my screen name.

Had my surgery yesterday and everything went well. I was able to start drinking Water today and I was able to get a few ozs of Protein Drink down. I will be staying another night in the hospital to make sure I don't get dehydrated. All in all I feel pretty good. I am sore in my abdomen but nothing unbearable. I haven't been sick at all and haven't had much gas either so I guess that's good. I am tired but not exhausted. I am so looking forward to start losing my weight. This skinny girl has been cooped up way too long!!!

Newfmom that's wonderful news! Keep us posted. I'm just finishing getting my stuff together to give to the insurance company. Hopefully sometime this summer. I am not quite sure how long it will take for an approval as I am going from band to sleeve. Prayers to help keep everything good!! Xo

Newfounldove.....yes I do have a newfie. She is a 10 month old landseer named Maggie Mae. My first newfie was an all black male named Tonka. He passed away at 14 1/2 yrs old. I am going to have to recover quickly so that she and I can continue our CGC class. She isn't huge yet but she is extremely strong. One of these days, she will probably weigh more than me. (I hope so anyway!)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
