100%Sleeved 148 Posted May 26, 2012 It took 2 weeks for my throat to feel normal again. This pain is no joke. Hang in there and try to suck on ice to soothe the pain.
BeautyVGSJourney 99 Posted May 26, 2012 I would definitely go to your pcp and get it checked out. It does look like strep and its better safe than sorry, you don't want an infection moving down specially since you are probably taking things to raise your stomach ph which bacteria loves. Strep and other bacteria and microbes live everywhere
SAAHSMOM 0 Posted May 26, 2012 Ebony that is normal after extubation your throat will be dry and irritated for some days from the anesthsia and the ett which was blowing air into your lugs. Try chloroseptic spray to the area, If u can tolerate it try ice chips they melt and soothe the throat. If it doesnt get better in about a week then you will need to contact you doctor. But it does get better.
EbonyJ 5 Posted May 26, 2012 Thanks for all the advice you guys but I'm in too much pain to swallow anything. I feel like I'm becoming dehydrated so I decided to go to Urgent Care this morning. I'll let you guys know how it goes. 1 BeautyVGSJourney reacted to this

EbonyJ 5 Posted May 26, 2012 Just left the doctor. The damage was done by the intubation tube and I also have throat ulcers. She gave me a script for lidocaine spray so I can swallow without excruciating pain. My BP is dangerously low and I'm also dehydrated. Other than the throat problem I'm not having any other problems from my surgery. Thanks for the support guys.
