mocmylov 6 Posted May 25, 2012 Hello everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself, I'm Daryl and I'm from Sunny San Diego! I was sleeved last week on May 15, and today I finally got my drain removed! Phew. I hated that thing! I'm happy to say that as of today I'm down 46 pounds from when I started my pre-op liquid diet! But man, I can't wait until I can get back to the gym in full force! I can't even do my routine stretches! Oh well, I feel great! I just have a few questions, I'm currently only able to drink 1 Protein shake a day because after a few sips I feel full. I'm also drinking about 54 ounces of Water throughout the day. Should I be concerned about how little Protein I'm taking? I should note that I don't feel dizzy or tired at all, and in fact I feel nearly as energetic as before I started the liquid diet. Thanks for the help and it's great to be here! bnorms 2 Posted May 25, 2012 Welcome to the boards! I am still pretty new (8 weeks now) but the consensus seems to be that early post-op, the most important thing is to get your fluids in and it sounds like you have a great handle on that. Congrats on all that weight loss! 1 BeautyVGSJourney reacted to this

Phi Phi 4 Posted May 25, 2012 My doc said by day three or four I should be getting my 60 grams of Protein in.
Lissa 2,631 Posted May 25, 2012 First of all, welcome to VST and to the loser's bench! Second, if you're getting in 54 oz of Water AND a Protein shake, you're doing an amazing job! My doc tells us not to worry so much about the Protein until we're into the mushies stage. You need the Water WAY more than you need protein for those first few weeks. You're not going to starve to death, but you can get dehydrated and end up in trouble in a hurry. Good luck on your journey!!
sleevertobe 22 Posted May 25, 2012 Yay !!! Great job.

mocmylov 6 Posted May 25, 2012 Hey Daryl! Welcome to VST - love the avatar pic by the way. Haha thanks! I was feeling silly the other day haha. Thanks for all the warm welcomes guys! I'm glad to have a support group when I can't attend support at my clinic! This is going to be fun
mesaucedo 207 Posted May 25, 2012 Hey! Welcome As some others said, I wouldn't worry too much about Protein now. Focus on fluids and making sure that you are hydrated! The first few weeks are when people have to go back in to the hospital from dehydration. Keep us posted!
malia247 3 Posted June 2, 2012 Where in San Diego did you get your surgery? Which dr? I'm considering the band or sleeve and curious how things are going for you. Thanks for any information and advice you can give, it's greatly appreciated.
Disneytikifan 21 Posted June 2, 2012 Congratulations! You are doing better than I did. Even the thought of a Protein Shake makes me nauseous. After throwing up many different shakes I waited until mushies and worked on Protein at that time. San Diego is a beautiful town and one of my favorites. I have been to the lodge at torrie pines for a meeting and they have a great golf course and a beautiful state park near there. Good luck!

Thanks for any information and advice you can give, it's greatly appreciated. I got my surgery at UCSD with Dr. Horgan. Great doctor, friendly and to the point! He and his team are top notch here. I couldn't have had a better experience. Congratulations! You are doing better than I did. Even the thought of a Protein shake makes me nauseous. I actually work 5 minutes away from Torrey Pines State Reserve. I drive past every day after work. It's the best drive, and the view makes the traffic worth it

StarshineMama 10 Posted June 8, 2012 Hi Daryl! I'm also at UCSD. Dr. Horgan is doing my sleeve on July 3rd. I've been wanting to talk to others who have been sleeved by Dr. Horgan. I went to the last support group and I really liked it. Natalie is, of course, wonderful and Jill is great too. I'll definitely be at the next one, so I hope to see you there!
