Half~of~Bri 25 Posted May 25, 2012 Since becoming morbidly obese I have had very light, sporadic menstrual cycles. In other words, I don't ovulate very often, so getting pregnant is a challenge. I'm back on birth control now (since I'm having surgery) and that regulates my cycle, but I'm curious - Has anyone had menstrual cycle/fertility issues that became resolved after surgery? I'm really hoping it will regulate it's self eventually.
AliveAgain 283 Posted May 25, 2012 Most doctors will tell you to be very careful after surgery, use two forms of birth control, etc. BECAUSE losing weight is known to help increase fertility. Of course, other factors can still cause issues like endometriosis, PCOS, etc. that weight loss may or may not help. But weight loss helps regulate hormones, so most likely it could help.
