Shaniceh01 28 Posted May 24, 2012 Hey everyone. I go for my last last appointment on June 4 to turn in the last of what's required by my insurance. I hope I get approved but thinking about it drives me insane and i'm so hoping it doesn't take me that long to get the surgery. I'm 5'3 269 and 23 years of age. A single college mother of a six year old and I'm so miserable and I'm so ready to be healthy for once in my life. I'm Hoping to live a long healthy life with the help of my sleeve and get to enjoy seeing my daughter grow up 1 littlebits reacted to this
MyGastricSleeveLife 180 Posted May 24, 2012 Good luck! Hopefully, they approve you quickly! I was self-pay, so I didn't have to worry about that. I'm 36 (almost 37) and have 2 daughters, ages 12 & 8. I want to have as much time with them as I can & that's one reason I did this. I'm now 10 days post-op and can't be happier with my decision! Good luck with your journey!! littlebits 154 Posted May 24, 2012 Shanice, I wish you the best of luck. My process has been less than desirable. The office staff in my surgeon's office has been horrible, but I took care of that yesterday. They wouldn't submit my paperwork because my bmi was too low, according to my insurance company. Long story short, I finally got my approval and surgery date yesterday. My only regret, is that I didn't do this sooner. It is good that you are being proactive at such a young age. I'm sure that everything will be fine!!! Keep us posted!!!
lovealways 22 Posted June 4, 2012 About how long did the whole process take? I'm hoping my insurance doesn't require the 6 month weigh in... :/
Shaniceh01 28 Posted June 10, 2012 I started my process in April and I'm finally finished with neccessary appointments, I meet the surgeon tomorrow so hopefully it will be submitted this week and as for six month required supervised diet it really just depends on what type of insurance you have, some require it and some don't. I have la care thru Medicaid and they required six consecutive months of weightloss attempts documented by your pcp (old or new) I had all but two which I just completed, all the other appointments plus school keeps me busy so time flys by. Good luck to you
