amytug 996 Posted May 24, 2012 I'm still doing my research and everyone says "think twice, cut once.". So I'm considering the DS thinking that long term, it might be best for keeping the weight off. Did any of you sleevers consider the DS? Why did you choose the sleeve? It certainly is easier to find a surgeon that does the sleeve. Lissa 2,631 Posted May 24, 2012 I did tons of research before surgery, but decided against DS for the same reasons I decided against gastric bypass: malabsorption. Both DS and GB require that you monitor your Vitamin levels super closely for life, even more closely that we should do with our sleeves. The other issue for me was dumping syndrome. I had IBS pre-op and wanted to avoid making that worse if possible. I've been lucky that I haven't had any episodes of that since surgery, so I made the right choice for me. 1 LadyIvy reacted to this
LadyIvy 159 Posted May 24, 2012 I chose the sleeve for many of the same reasons as Lissa. Also, if you ever need to get a scope to see your stomach, it can no longer be done. They cannot access your stomach if necessary, they can only get as far as the pouch.
