It kind of sucked coming home because I'm having a hard time getting enough liquids in. Its difficult to get comfy in bed I'm use to the adjustable hospital beds. Part of healing I suppose.

I'm sure by the one week mark you will be feeling much better. Every day will be better than the last :)

Good to hear! Will the rumbling inside an gas pains in my chest go away as well? Or is there something I can do to help?

I haven't been sleeved yet, but have had abdominal surgery with the gas pain and yes, that should be gone by about a week out as well. I'm not sure about the rumbling. I've read a lot of the posts here and it seems that after the first week almost everyone is feeling much better. Walking is the best thing for those gas pains. I had them with my last surgery and walking helped a ton.

The noises are so funny lol. Yes it all stops... For the most part. Every once in a while it I still squeak and groan lol. As for gas, walking helped it big time. Gas x stripes as well. Week 2 it starts getting so much easier.

Ok great because it sounds like a war in my belly.

What is the pressure in my chest from? Sometimes when I take a drink it hurts for a few seconds then gurgles out.

Maybe you're swallowing some air? I've experienced that as well. At first I thought it was a blockage of some type, but it went away

Ok. I don't doubt it. Somehow I manage to have hiccups almost every single day of my life so I prolly do swallow to much air.

Had my surgery on May 17, 2012. They had an extremely difficult time entubating me which apparently causes a lot of trauma to throat, airway. lungs? Had a terriible first night, awake all night and coughing guck all night. I was sceduled to vo home on Saturday if the leak/swallow test went well.nd had to stop the test as the Fluid wouldn't go through, and they found I had a partially collapsed lung, requiring a chest tube.be placed. Worst procedure I have ever experienced. They couldn't sedate me and only used a local anezthetic. Complete nightmare!

sorry I messed up and didn't finish prev. post. Any way, on Friday chest tube placed and now no plan for when I could go home. About Sun or Mon found I had a doozie of a UTI. Then asthma kicked in and awake all.night fighting to breathe. Re introduced Clear Liquids which didn't work resulting in an awake night of pain.

At some point needed a couple units of blood as blood count dropped

Had another leak test on Thusday. liquid went thru after backing up for a few minutes. Finally a happy ending??

Full liquids on Friday, and sent me home. I tried to stay positive and confidant but had some bad moments. I am working hard to get in fluids and full liquids. There is no way that will happen right away. Just so glad to be home and hoping to start feeling better each day. I believe I had excellent care and am not regretting the decision to get sleeved. In spite of loosing 54 pounds pre surgery and doing every thing I was asked to do, still had multiple complications. I'm ready now to start my new life. Tired and battered and glad to have the surgery behind me but ready for all the positive changes ahead. Sorry so long winded and for probably not making much sense but glad you are out there and that we can support each other.

My only complication was being dehydrated on the day of surgery because my surgeon told me to have my last clear liquid meal by 6 pm the day before. The nurses couldn't get an IV started and after 5 sticks I ended up having one on the inside of my elbow where they normally draw blood. Created a lot of problems with the IV alarm sounding off every time I bent my arm. Now on my 3rd day postop Im struggling to get in all of the liquids. Doing the best I can but if I drink more than 1 sip every 4-5 minutes I get nauseaous. 1/2 cup of sugar free Jello is taking me all day. Hopefully tomorrow will be easier.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
