Recommended Posts

I've finished everything required for the surgery request to be sent to insurance plus all pre-op testing. How long before your Dr.s office submitted the request to insurance? I get get anyone in the office to tell me.

Once everything is done and your doctor has dictated his visit/consult with you, they will submit it. I would call the office and check to see if it has been submitted. Then call your insurance co. You should know something soon! GL...

My first appointment (consultation) was April 11th and I started the process that day and had my second appointment on May 14th (I did all of my requirements within that months time), the nurse submitted my insurance on May 15th. :)

I'm more frustrated now. It's been a week since everythin was completed and the insurance company says that they haven't received anything yet. I guess it was telling when in the office they told me that hopefully I'll be able to get my surgery sometime this summer. I did everything quickly so I could be scheduled as soon as my insurance was submitted and approved. I guess its all a waiting game now.

A week and a 1/2 ...call your insurance company! That's what I did today...also my doctor gave me my date at my 1 st visit ...can you book the date with them now ? And if there is a problem you can change it?...I am only 2 weeks away now from my surgery and so nervous I may add!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
