Boobs - Implants Without A Lift?

Recommended Posts

I've been really waffling on the issue of boobs lately, mine are still a DD (albeit 32), but they are very flat when they are not in a bra. They are not so bad that my nipples are pointing downwards or anything, but they are certainly saggy, and while they are decent when I'm standing up, they look awful when I bend down.

I've trolled the web for info, but I really don't want to get a breast lift. I don't want the scars, and I don't want the extra risks associated with a 2-part operation and extra skin being cut, especially since I may choose to have children and breastfeed in the future. Has anyone here gotten JUST implants and no lift? Or has anyone here gone to a plastic surgeon and was told it's not necessary to have a lift in addition to implants? It just seems that all you see on Google images post-WLS is implants + lift.

Good question! I've had the kid, done the breastfeeding, lost 90 pounds, gained 100 pounds, and now losing another 100 pounds. I soooooo need a lift and several implants.

My mom lost about 40 pounds that she had gained during the stay at home mom period and decided to get implants when she saw her boobs disappear. She had small saggy-ish bag looking things for boobs and she just got nice big B/small C implants put in (she is only 5 feet tall and weighs around 102 pounds now) and they look great. They still have a little natural sag, which I think is ok for her -- she is 42 -- put they are perky enough to where she doesn't need a bra with a halter top or something.

Longish story short : So it can be done!

DD is a fairly decent cup size.

I went in decades ago asking for implants, thinking if I could only fill out the big baggy skin envelope it wouldn't look so bad. However, the surgeon convinced me I had plenty breast tissue, just too much skin. I had a lift-only with very nice results.

It sounds to me like your situation may be similar: large enough breasts, just saggy.

Think how big they would be if you used implants to fill out the loose skin.... might be a whole lot worse than scars.

The scars fade over time. I've been married three times and around the block a few more, and I've never had a man react negatively to the scars.

Not sure what you mean by the risks of a 2-part surgery? They put in the implants at the same time they do the lift.

Good luck!

I would try to discourage anyone from getting implants. I had them put in when I was young, and one ended up rupturing. I finally had them removed last year, and I am so glad that they are gone. Just please do some research before you have them put in. Here's a forum that I joined when I had a rupture: http://www.breastimplantsupport.org/index.php

Breast implants only last for about ten years maximum before they can leak or rupture. I had mine 27 years, but they were covered in scar tissue and encapsulated so the silicone didn't leak into my body as far as I know. Just know that, if you have them put in, you will have to have them removed or replaced in another surgery down the road.

I am definitely planning on having a breast lift as my breasts are super saggy, but I will have to wait until I have lost all my weight to be sure.

DD is pretty awesome; my advice would be to consider a lift instead for the sake of your health and back.

I wanted to get a lift when I was 22 because my boobs got horribly saggy from pregnancy and breast feeding. The cosmetic surgeon talked me into getting just big implants instead of a lift. I went from a very small B to a big D. Implants were above the muscle. They were perfect for a few years then they started sagging again. Now they are very saggy. I'm sure gaining 100 # had something to do with it too. When I'm done with all my weight loss I'm getting the implants out and just going for small perky boobs.

I would recommend Dr. Dan Diaco in Tampa Fl. He is known nationally as one of the best in this field and can let you know what you need to get your desired results

My sleeve surgeon said no plastics for at least a year. He said there are so many techniques and some that do not leave very much or noticible scars. He said most sleevers get a little reduction with small implant. No need for cutting around the back. I have heard and seen horror stories. The lift alone is bad. Other techniques better. Research....

I've worked in plastic surgery for many years, and I can tell you that in order to get that youthful "perky" look, it's almost necessary to add a little bit of volume. This can be achieved (IMO) through a cohesive gel "gummy bear" implant, or through a fat transfer from your own body. Saline implants typically need to be replaced in 10 years and feel fake and Water balloon like- whereas your own body fat will survive (to varying extents) and a cohesive gel implant (as far as we know) cannot "pop" and seems to likely look good for up to 20 (or even 30!) years.

That said, a full mastopexy can certainly get you nice and perky and you don't need to worry about having a foreign body in you! It's all about what you truly want. I'd do a lot of research and look at photos and decide what look you'd really like. A LOT can be achieved through a circumareolar ("doughnut") lift with a small implant and you wind up with no real visible scarring.

Your body looks impressive, it would be great for you not to have to have scars! Also, I actually recommend sub glandular placement (above the muscle) for the new cohesive gel implants, they have a better chance of being soft and we will last longer as they will sag with the natural breast rather than have the risk of "bottoming out" (you can look that one up, it's not pretty).

A good rule of thumb is that getting implants will leave you with a larger version of your current breast shape. If you are happy with the shape, then just get implants. If you aren't happy with the shape, a lift is the only way to make a big change.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
