I have been constipated for several weeks now. I never had this issue pre-op and I know it's most likely due to my diet now having an increase in dairy and a decrease in fruits/vegetables and grains. My Dr said colace twice a day and benefiber or another similar product twice a day. If this doesn't do the trick I should try Milk of Magnesia. It's been several days now and I don't notice a difference (still have to try the milk of mag but dreading the taste). What have other people done to combat this problem?

I am only a daily regimine of colalce once per day. I am luck if go once a week now. Talk to the MD about it and he said as long as I am not straining it is good. :-)

I had to take Milk of Magnesia to get things moving. It was 9 days after surgery before I finally went... I bought the berry flavor by Phillips, held my nose and down the hatch it went! LOL

Good Luck!

You need more fluids, and insoluble Fiber in your diet. Even if you are getting your recommended 64 oz a day, that is obviously not enough. I have noticed that I only go every couple of days now (just not enough food to go daily). However, so long as I keep my fluids near 100 oz a day, I have no issues at all. I live in a warm climate and am outside and working out frequently. 64 oz just does not cut it.

I was having that problem and wanted to add more grains to my diet. I bought some Weight Control oatmeal. 7 grams of Protein per packet and only 1 gram of sugar. I can only eat half a packet at a time though but ever since I haven't had a problem at all. I eat it every other day for Breakfast.< /p>
