Hey everyone... I am here at the hotel night before surgery. Kamloops mom and her sister and stepmom are here at the hotel, too. All 3 of us have surgery tomorrow.

Getting nervous finally... and homesick as well....

I don't go in for surgery till tomorrow at 12 or after, I am the last to go due to being a revision, but I will be on my laptop all morning (waiting lol)....

Hugs to you MinaT!! :)

Sending my biggest thoughts and prayers and well wishes to the following sleevers for Monday! Keep your spirits high, press your pain button, walk as soon and as much as you can and never forget to ask for help and anti-nausea medications. At one time I was on 3 plus the patch. It made everything much easier.

I know you feel badly, having a steroid prior to the actual surgery is not a good thing, it slows healing, however having swelling in your bronchus or esophagus is a bad thing too. I hope you feel comfortable that the doctors did what was in your best interest. (that was the nurse in me talking) as a fellow person waiting for a sleeve I hope you can keep yur chin up and know that you will succeed no matter what the hurdle is!!!

Naturals, thanks so much for responding. Maybe you can help me as a lay person better understand this. What would have been the issue(s) with proceeding with my esophagus swollen? Never having had this problem before, it was very frustrating. Of course, I've never been this age before. Thanks again. I'm back in the countdown position to July 9th :)

Good luck to all today's sleevers!!!! Thanks for the advance well wishes for tomorrow! I'm very nervous and obsessed that I don't have enough time to get it all done before I go in tomorrow at 6am. I dropped my three boys (7,9,11) off with grandparents in Houston and drove back up here to Dallas yesterday with a heavy heart, wondering if I'd ever see them again... Am I obsessed with the off chance that things will go wiggy or have any of you all felt this as well? I'm a mess!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
